Harold Kehoe

11 juin 2022

It is with deep sadness that Harold's family announces his peaceful passing on June 11, 2022 at the age of 83 at the Gatineau Hospital. Beloved husband of Raymonde Cayer, married for 61 years. Loving father of Gregory (Cynthia), Bridget and Kendra (Yoga). Son of the late William Kehoe and the late Mary Murphy. Brother of Sr. Rita GSIC, Lewis (Colette), and John (Yolande). Predeceased by his siblings: Vincent (late Monica), Eileen (late Frank), Elmer (late Kay), Gerald (late Carole), James (late Doreen), Theresa (late Jérôme) and Wilfred (Gisele). He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Lorraine (late Richard), and predeceased brothers-in-law Carol and Claude. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Harold was born in Quinnville, Quebec -- the youngest of 11 children in an Irish Catholic family. He moved to Maple Street in Gatineau at age 3 years old and later moved back to the same area a block away, where he and his wife lived for the last 48 years. Il était devenu la mémoire de son quartier.

He was a man of principle and utter devotion to his immediate and extended family. As a caring father, he always had time for his children. We appreciated and valued his advice, guidance and support.

Harold was a very accomplished and humble man. He was responsible for English Catholic education in Western Quebec including being principal at D’Arcy McGee High School.

Harold always had a positive attitude, even when he was in rehab following his stroke when he would say "Hope springs eternal". This is the philosophy of how he lived his life.

Harold loved being active outdoors, including playing tennis, taking multiple daily walks in the neighbourhood, biking, swimming and he went cross-country skiing twice a day until his sudden illness.

Harold was a very hard worker; this was evident both at home and at the family cottage, Maple Acres. He knew how to get things done and did so much for his family. Harold will be deeply missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday June 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 300 de l'Abbé-Murray Street, in Gatineau. Family will receive condolences starting at 10:15 a.m. at the church. The family requires that everyone attending the funeral wear a mask. A private interment will be held at a later date at Notre-Dame Cemetery in Hull.

In memoriam donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders or the charity of your choice. If you are looking for a way to honour Harold, we invite you to do something kind for someone or enjoy an outdoor activity.

We are very grateful for the care and compassion he received at La Ressourse.
